Supporting Food Shelves Across America
Fifteen percent of the profit from every product sold will be donated to support the cause identified on this product page. Profit means the amount remaining from the price actually paid after discounts, production costs, and ordinary transaction fees. As sales grow, we hope to increase the donation percentage.
Tariffs Are Trickle-Down Taxes
Tariffs are not paid directly to the United States by the countries whose goods are being tariffed. When the United States imposes a tariff, the U.S. importer bringing those goods into the country pays it. That added expense may be absorbed by the importer or passed through American businesses to consumers through higher prices. Foreign producers may sometimes absorb part of the economic burden, but they do not directly pay the U.S. tariff bill.
Anyone who tells you that the affected foreign countries directly pay these tariffs to the United States is giving you false or misleading information.
That is why tariffs can be described as trickle-down taxes: the charge begins at the border and its cost can work its way down through the supply chain to the people purchasing the affected goods.
